Nadal is a 22-time Grand Slam Champion

Rafael Nadal, 38, made his return to competitive tennis at the Bastad tournament, after skipping Wimbledon to prepare for the Paris Olympics this summer. Partnering with Casper Ruud, Nadal secured a doubles victory on Monday, setting the stage for his singles match against 21-year-old Leo Borg, the son of tennis legend Bjorn Borg.

Nadal showcased his skill early in the match, breaking Borg with a deft drop shot in the fourth game. He continued to dominate, serving out the ninth game to love and taking the first set with ease.

In the second set, Nadal broke Borg’s serve in the opening game and maintained his momentum. Despite a slight hiccup, losing the first point while serving for the match, Nadal clinched victory in one hour and 24 minutes.

"Great feelings," Nadal commented after the match. "It was a huge honour to play against the son of one of the biggest legends in the history of our sport. He played quite well. He has a future in front so I wish him all the very best."

Nadal's next challenge will be against Great Britain's Cameron Norrie in the second round.
