England beat New Zealand by seven wickets

England continued their unbeaten summer with a dominant performance against New Zealand, chasing down a modest target of 104 with ease in the fourth T20 at The Kia Oval, losing just three wickets in the process.

New Zealand, having opted to bat first, struggled to build momentum, managing only 103-8. England's spinners, Sarah Glenn and Sophie Ecclestone, were instrumental in dismantling the New Zealand batting order. Glenn recorded impressive figures of 4-19, while Ecclestone chipped in with 2-16.

The tourists had a promising start, reaching 33-0, but Glenn's breakthrough in the seventh over, where she dismissed Georgia Plimmer and Amelia Kerr, triggered a collapse. New Zealand found themselves reeling at 52-5 shortly after.

A brief partnership between Izzy Gaze and Maddy Green, which added 28 runs for the sixth wicket, offered some resistance. However, Glenn's second two-wicket over ended their stand, and New Zealand could only muster 19 runs in their final three overs, barely surpassing the hundred mark.

In response, England started aggressively, racing to 54-0 within five overs. Sophia Dunkley top-scored with 26 off 16 balls but fell during the powerplay to a catch by Suzie Bates. England then lost Danni Wyatt and Alice Capsey in quick succession, reducing them to 73-3.

However, the experienced duo of Nat Sciver-Brunt and captain Heather Knight calmly guided England to victory. They added 31 runs in 26 balls, sealing the win in the 12th over.

This victory gives England a 4-0 lead in the T20 series, adding to their earlier 3-0 sweep in the ODI series against New Zealand. England also enjoyed a flawless series against Pakistan in May, winning all five completed matches.

The final match of the T20 series will be held at Lord's on Wednesday at 18:00 BST.
