Sabalenka Dominates Zheng to Set Up US Open Semi-Final Clash with Navarro

Aryna Sabalenka delivered a commanding performance at the US Open, dispatching Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen with a decisive 6-1, 6-2 victory to book her place in the semi-finals. The world number two from Belarus showcased her formidable power and precision, sending a clear warning to her rivals as she eyes her third Grand Slam title.

Sabalenka's victory over Zheng was a statement win, underscoring her status as one of the favorites to claim the title at Flushing Meadows. Last year, Sabalenka reached the final but fell short against Coco Gauff. This time, she appears more determined than ever to go all the way, having already secured two Australian Open titles in her career.

Her next challenge will be American Emma Navarro, who pulled off a remarkable comeback to defeat Spain's Paula Badosa. Navarro, roared on by a passionate New York crowd, recovered from a 5-1 deficit in the second set to seal a 6-2, 7-5 victory, earning her spot in the last four.

Sabalenka and Navarro have faced each other twice this year, with Sabalenka emerging victorious in a lopsided fourth-round match at the French Open. However, Navarro won their only previous encounter on a hard court, defeating Sabalenka at Indian Wells in a tightly contested match.

Despite her dominant form, Sabalenka is not taking Navarro lightly, acknowledging the American's tenacity and skill. "She [Navarro] is a really good player. We had two battles, they were really close," Sabalenka said after her quarter-final win.

The Belarusian also sought to win over the home crowd ahead of their semi-final clash, humorously offering to buy drinks for the fans if they supported her. "OK guys, drinks on me - and please give me some support in the next match," she joked, showing a light-hearted side amid the intense competition.

As the semi-final approaches, all eyes will be on Sabalenka to see if she can maintain her blistering form and secure a place in the final. With Navarro standing in her way and a potential rematch with Gauff looming, Sabalenka knows that the road to the title will not be easy. But with her powerful game and growing confidence, she is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with at this year's US Open.
