Fulham Submits Second Bid for Manchester United's Scott McTominay Amid Transfer Speculation
Manchester United have received a second bid from Fulham for midfielder Scott McTominay, understood to be in the region of £20 million. Despite the offer, it is anticipated that United will reject the bid, leaving the future of the Scotland international uncertain once again.
McTominay, 27, who is entering the prime years of his career, is seeking regular first-team action. Last summer, West Ham also made an attempt to sign him, highlighting ongoing interest in the player. Although McTominay made 32 Premier League appearances for United last season, 14 of those were from the bench. Notably, he started in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City at Wembley.
Injuries within the United squad have further complicated the club's transfer strategy. Defender Leny Yoro is set to miss three months due to injury, and striker Rasmus Hojlund is also sidelined. These setbacks increase the pressure on the Old Trafford club to generate funds for new signings.
McTominay recently featured in a number 10 role during United's pre-season win over Real Betis in San Diego. However, with Bruno Fernandes still to rejoin training following his Euro 2024 campaign, and Mason Mount aiming to stay fit, competition for midfield spots remains fierce. Additionally, Casemiro, whose potential move to the Saudi Pro-League was speculated, is still at the club, adding to the midfield depth.
Given the current circumstances, it is possible that United might eventually consider a deal for McTominay. His desire to secure a position as a first-team regular could lead to a transfer, should a suitable offer align with United's financial and strategic goals.
As the transfer window progresses, McTominay's situation will be closely monitored by both Manchester United and interested clubs, with his future hanging in the balance amid ongoing negotiations.
