Leicester City Secure Oliver Skipp from Tottenham for £20m

Leicester City have bolstered their midfield options with the signing of Oliver Skipp from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee exceeding £20 million. The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract, marking a significant addition to the Foxes' squad as they gear up for their return to the Premier League.

Skipp, a product of Spurs’ academy, made 77 Premier League appearances during his time in North London, including 21 last season. Known for his tenacity and ball-winning ability, the young midfielder was a regular feature under multiple managers at Tottenham, but the move to Leicester presents a fresh start and a chance to become a key figure at a club on the rise.

Upon completing the transfer, Skipp expressed his excitement about joining the Foxes: “I’m really excited to sign. I’ve got the feeling that it’s a good group of people and a good group of players. I’m sure that we’ve got a squad capable of challenging in every game. You look around the squad and there’s lots of exciting players who have played in the Premier League and I’m really excited to see what this group can achieve.”

Leicester manager Enzo Maresca will be pleased to have strengthened his options in the center of the park. Skipp’s arrival follows the earlier signing of Harry Winks, reuniting the two former Spurs team-mates in the heart of Leicester’s midfield. The duo will bring a blend of experience and familiarity that could be crucial as the Foxes aim to re-establish themselves in the top flight.

Skipp is Leicester’s fifth summer signing, adding further depth and competition to a squad that has been actively reshaped following their promotion. His ability to break up play, distribute from deep, and lead by example is expected to fit seamlessly into Maresca’s tactical plans.

While Skipp will not feature in Leicester’s opening fixture against his former club Tottenham on Monday night, fans can expect to see him make his debut when the Foxes travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham the following Saturday.

For Leicester, this signing represents another step in building a competitive squad capable of holding its own in the Premier League, while for Skipp, it’s a chance to make his mark at a club hungry for success.
