Charyn and Notable Speech Set for Prix du Moulin Showdown at ParisLongchamp

This Sunday’s Prix du Moulin at ParisLongchamp promises a thrilling clash of generations, as Roger Varian’s in-form four-year-old Charyn goes head-to-head with Charlie Appleby’s three-year-old star Notable Speech. The highly anticipated contest pits two of Europe's top milers against each other in a race that could shape the future of both horses' campaigns.

Charyn, owned by Nurlan Bizakov, is riding the crest of a wave following back-to-back Group One victories. After landing the prestigious Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, he followed up with another dominant performance in the Jacques Le Marois at Deauville, cementing his place among the elite milers in Europe. A victory in the Prix du Moulin would further enhance his reputation as one of the best older horses in training.

Standing in his way is the Godolphin-owned Notable Speech, who enters the race after bouncing back from a disappointing Royal Ascot showing. The three-year-old, trained by Appleby, rediscovered his winning form at Goodwood in July when he claimed the Sussex Stakes in style. The 2000 Guineas winner now has the chance to prove himself against older rivals in what will be his first meeting with Charyn.

Another intriguing element in this clash is the reappearance of Aidan O’Brien’s Henry Longfellow, who was sent off as the favorite for the Sussex Stakes but could only manage a fourth-place finish. The son of Frankel will be looking to reverse the form in Paris after being caught out by a strong early pace at Goodwood, which saw outsider Sonny Liston take the field along in the early stages.

Nurlan Bizakov’s hopes are not solely pinned on Charyn, as the owner also has a second representative in the race, the Christopher Head-trained Ramadan. Godolphin too is double-handed, with Andre Fabre saddling Tribalist to join Notable Speech in the nine-strong field.

Fabre’s involvement doesn’t stop there, as he also sends out Supercooled, another potential contender in a race stacked with talent. Completing the field are Caramelito, Kelina, and Big Rock, all of whom will be looking to spring a surprise in what promises to be a competitive renewal of the Prix du Moulin.

With Thursday’s supplementary entry stage still to come, the final line-up may see further intrigue added to what is already shaping up as one of the most compelling mile races of the season.

The stage is set at ParisLongchamp for a high-stakes battle between Charyn’s experience and Notable Speech’s youthful exuberance, with racing fans eagerly anticipating the outcome of this generational showdown.
