All Blacks Crush Argentina in Rugby Championship Rematch; Springboks Overcome Wallabies

New Zealand 42-10 Argentina

In a dominant display at Eden Park, New Zealand exacted revenge for their earlier loss to Argentina with a resounding 42-10 victory in the Rugby Championship. The All Blacks, who had been stunned 38-30 by the Pumas in their tournament opener, turned in a first-half performance of remarkable intensity, scoring five tries to establish a commanding 35-3 lead.

Damian McKenzie led the charge, scoring a try and converting all six of New Zealand’s tries. His effort was complemented by tries from captain Ardie Savea, Caleb Clarke, Will Jordan, and Beauden Barrett. Jordan’s second try early in the second half underscored the All Blacks' relentless pressure, marking his 33rd try in as many internationals.

Argentina’s lone bright spot came with a late consolation try from Juan Cruz Mallia, but it was a mere footnote in an otherwise lopsided contest. The All Blacks extended their unbeaten run at Eden Park to 50 Tests, while Argentina's captain, Julian Montoya, lamented his team's lack of consistency.

"We're the All Blacks, we've got to bring that every week and not rely on a loss to get that response from us," said Savea, reflecting on the team's strong rebound.

Australia 12-30 South Africa

In Perth, South Africa continued their strong Rugby Championship form with a 30-12 victory over Australia, following their opening win against the Wallabies. The Springboks secured their win with tries from Aphelele Fassi, Marco van Staden, and a brace from Malcolm Marx.

Australia initially took the lead with a Noah Lolesio penalty, but South Africa soon took control. A closely contested first half saw the Springboks ahead by just two points at the break. The second half saw South Africa pull away, with Van Staden’s try and Marx's two late scores sealing the win.

Australia’s efforts to narrow the gap with Lolesio’s fourth penalty proved insufficient, and the Springboks' superior execution in the final stages ensured their victory.

The Rugby Championship continues with South Africa set to host New Zealand for back-to-back matches, while Australia will travel to Argentina for their next fixtures.
