Jarron Ennis is now unbeaten in 32 fights

Returning to the ring after more than a year, 27-year-old Ennis faced a seasoned adversary, showcasing his superior skill and power against the Russian opponent. Though the initial rounds were competitive, Ennis gradually took control, thrilling over 14,000 fans at the Wells Fargo Center in his hometown of Philadelphia.

Ennis began to dominate from the third round onward, culminating in a powerful fifth round where he knocked down the 35-year-old Avanesyan. A relentless barrage followed, leading the ringside doctor to advise Avanesyan's corner to stop the fight at the end of the round.

With an unblemished record of 32 wins, Ennis reflected on his performance, acknowledging, "I felt like my timing was a little off."

Promoter Eddie Hearn, however, was full of praise: "If he thinks that performance was off, the world of boxing ought to be very, very afraid. He’s the future of boxing. That's what he is."

Looking ahead, Ennis expressed his ambition to face Terence Crawford, declaring, "I want the big names."

The event also featured a successful title defense by Australia's Skye Nicolson, who retained her WBC featherweight belt with a unanimous decision over Dyana Vargas of the Dominican Republic. The 28-year-old Nicolson showcased her dominance throughout the 10 rounds, with all three judges scoring it 100-90 in favor of the 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist.
