Eshan Pieris Secures Silver Class Runner-Up Title in 2024 GT World Challenge Asia
The curtain closed on the 2024 GT World Challenge Asia season last month with a thrilling finale at Shanghai International Circuit, China, where Sri Lankan driver Eshan Pieris clinched the runner-up position in the Silver Class championship. Amid intense competition, Pieris demonstrated resilience and skill, securing a podium finish in the last race on September 15th, marking a year of remarkable progress alongside his teammate, Tanart Sathienthirakul.
Reflecting on this milestone, Pieris expressed deep gratitude toward the Absolute Racing team and Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific. He also extended thanks to his supporters in Sri Lanka, whose encouragement fueled his drive throughout the season.
"What an incredible season with the Absolute Racing family," Pieris shared. "Securing runner-up in the Silver Class means a lot, and I owe it to my team and everyone who supported me along the way."
Held at Shanghai’s iconic Formula 1 circuit, the GT World Challenge Asia finale provided a fitting backdrop for a season-ending showdown. Known for its challenging layout, the circuit pushed drivers to their limits, creating a thrilling conclusion to the championship.
Throughout the season, Pieris and Sathienthirakul showcased strong performances with Absolute Racing’s Porsche 911 GT3 R (992). Their steady pace, strategic approach, and determination were instrumental in their Silver Class success.
With the 2024 season now in the rearview, Pieris’s achievement highlights his racing prowess and commitment. Looking ahead, he is determined to return next year, eyeing the overall championship title. Plans for his offseason include intensive simulator work, additional karting sessions, and rigorous training to sharpen his skills.
As he sets his sights on future challenges, Pieris remains focused on his partnership with SpeedBay and preparing for the Thailand Super Series’ final round in December.
