Mohamed Salah Hints at Liverpool Departure: "It Could Be My Last Year"

Mohamed Salah has cast uncertainty over his future at Liverpool, revealing that he feels this could be his "last year" at Anfield and that there have been no discussions with the club regarding a new contract.

The 32-year-old Egyptian winger, whose current deal expires next summer, scored in Liverpool’s commanding 3-0 victory at Manchester United on Sunday. Speaking after the match, Salah suggested he approached the game as if it might be his final appearance at Old Trafford.

"I was coming to the game, I was saying, 'look, it could be the last time'," Salah told Sky Sports. "Nobody in the club talked to me yet about contracts so I was just like, 'OK, I play my last season and see at the end of the season'."

Despite his contract situation, Salah’s performance continues to be a source of pride for Liverpool. Manager Arne Slot, who has seen his team excel under his leadership, declined to comment on contract matters but praised Salah's contribution.

"It's a lot of 'if'. At this moment he is one of ours and I am really happy with him being one of ours and he played really well," Slot said. "I don't talk about contracts from players but I can talk for hours about how Mo played today."

Salah’s current contract, signed in July 2022, reportedly made him the highest-paid player in Liverpool's history, earning more than £350,000 a week. Last September, Liverpool turned down a £150 million offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad for Salah, underscoring his importance to the team.

With the clock ticking on his current deal, Salah’s future remains a topic of significant interest and speculation. As the season progresses, both fans and club officials will be keenly watching for any developments regarding the star forward’s next move.
