AQUAPLUS Unveils Exciting Details for the To Heart Remake and Project Kizuna RPG at 30th Anniversary Event

During the "Grand Aqua Festival 30th Anniversary" event on Sunday, AQUAPLUS thrilled fans by revealing details for the highly anticipated To Heart visual novel remake and their new role-playing game project, Kizuna. The announcements mark a major celebration of AQUAPLUS' legacy in gaming, as the company pushes its creative boundaries with remakes and original titles alike.

To Heart Remake – A New Look for a Classic Tale

Originally released for Windows in 1997 and later adapted to PlayStation, To Heart has cemented its place as a cornerstone in the visual novel/dating sim genre. The 2024 remake brings beloved characters into a new era with full 3D graphics, developed exclusively for Nintendo Switch and PC. The remake introduces new design work by Tatami Honjo, a longtime AQUAPLUS artist, ensuring the updated visuals remain faithful to the charm and essence of the original.

The To Heart remake will feature updated voice talent, with Kana Ichinose voicing Akari Kamigishi and Hina Yomiya taking on the role of the fan-favorite character Multi. In the original, Ayako Kawasumi and Yui Horie voiced Akari and Multi, respectively, but the fresh talent aims to bring a renewed energy to these iconic roles. Fans will also be treated to a new opening theme, “Feeling Heart,” performed by YURiKA, setting a vibrant tone for the remake.

AQUAPLUS has set the pricing for the physical version of the game at 4,378 yen (approximately $28.70) and the digital version at 3,080 yen (around $20.20), making this updated classic accessible to both returning fans and new players alike.

Project Kizuna – A New Adventure by RPG Veterans

AQUAPLUS also gave fans a first look at Project Kizuna, an original RPG that combines the talents of veteran creators. Directed by Kengo Uchibori (known for I Am Setsuna and Goken), the game is under the careful production of Naoya Shimokawa. Scenario writing is handled by Munemitsu Suga, whose previous work on Utawarerumono is evident in Project Kizuna’s depth and character-driven narrative. Renowned designers Tatsuki Amazuyu and Misato Mitsumi bring their expertise from both Utawarerumono and To Heart to craft characters that feel fresh yet familiar.

While specifics on the gameplay and release details for Project Kizuna remain under wraps, the combination of AQUAPLUS’ expertise in narrative and the team’s impressive background in RPGs has set high expectations.

AQUAPLUS’ Expanding Portfolio

The To Heart remake and Project Kizuna announcements are part of a larger initiative by AQUAPLUS to honor its heritage while exploring new creative ventures. In addition to these projects, the company recently announced Utawarerumono: Shiro e no Michishirube (The Guidepost to White), a new entry in the popular Utawarerumono series, and a revival of Jasmine, a visual novel previously canceled.

To Heart has a longstanding legacy, inspiring two anime adaptations, a sequel game, and numerous spin-offs since its initial release. The original game’s influence on otaku culture and character design, particularly with the character Multi, resonates strongly within the community.

With these projects on the horizon, AQUAPLUS is once again redefining its impact on the gaming and visual novel landscapes. Fans can look forward to reliving nostalgic stories and embarking on new adventures as AQUAPLUS continues to shape the future of interactive storytelling.
