Wolves Bid for Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale on Loan with Option to Buy
Wolverhampton Wanderers have formally approached Arsenal with an offer to sign goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on a season-long loan, with a potential option to make the deal permanent in 2025.
The proposal, submitted earlier this week, reflects Wolves' interest in bolstering their goalkeeping options as they look to strengthen their squad for the current Premier League season.
Ramsdale, 26, has found himself in a challenging position at Arsenal following the arrival of David Raya on loan from Brentford, who has since been signed permanently. Despite making only 11 appearances for Arsenal last season, Ramsdale was selected for England's Euro 2024 squad, highlighting his continued value at the international level.
The former Sheffield United goalkeeper, who joined Arsenal in a £24 million move in 2021, is eager to secure regular first-team football, a crucial factor as he seeks to maintain his place in England’s setup.
Ramsdale was an unused substitute in Arsenal's opening Premier League match against Wolves, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Gunners. At Molineux, Portugal international José Sá has been the first-choice goalkeeper since his arrival from Olympiakos in 2021.
The loan offer from Wolves provides Ramsdale an opportunity to regain his starting role and demonstrate his capabilities, while offering Arsenal a chance to assess his future potential with the club.
