Tiffany Skips Yorkshire Oaks for German Group Two Target in Baden-Baden

Sir Mark Prescott’s progressive filly Tiffany will bypass the Pertemps Network Yorkshire Oaks next week, with connections instead eyeing a return trip to Germany later this month. The four-year-old daughter of Farhh has shown consistent improvement since stepping up to black-type company, and she is now targeting the Group Two Baden Racing Stuten-Preis at Baden-Baden on August 31.

Tiffany concluded her three-year-old campaign with a Listed race victory in Hanover last September and began this season in similar style with a dominant four-and-a-quarter-length win at Baden-Baden in May. Her return to British racing was equally impressive, as she comfortably outclassed the competition in the Hoppings Fillies’ Stakes at Newcastle in late June, defeating Karl Burke’s dual Group Two winner Darnation by two and a half lengths.

Her last outing was in the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock, where she finished second to the high-class Queen Of The Pride, three lengths adrift. Despite that effort positioning her as a potential contender for the Yorkshire Oaks at the Ebor Festival, connections have decided to alter plans, giving Tiffany a short break and focusing on another German raid.

Dan Downie, racing manager for owners Elite Racing Club, explained the decision: “We’re happy with her and she’s come out of the Haydock race fine. She ran well there, but given she had run just eight days prior at Newcastle, it’s tough to say if she could have finished any closer. Ultimately, she was beaten by a better horse on the day.”

After Haydock, Tiffany was given a brief spell in the paddocks, with connections prioritizing a strong finish to her campaign. “We decided to give her some time out in the fields to freshen her up. She’s back cantering now and we felt it was better to target the Group Two in Germany rather than keep her going continuously,” Downie added.

Tiffany has shown a clear affinity for German tracks, and confidence is high ahead of her return to Baden-Baden. “You’d be as confident as you could be in any horse heading over there. On paper, it looks like the perfect race for her, though we’re yet to see the full field.”

A strong performance in Baden-Baden could open doors to prestigious late-season targets for Tiffany. “If she runs well in Germany, we’ll consider options like the Arc meeting or possibly a race on Champions Day. But if we’re thinking about Group One targets, we’ll want to see her win next time out,” Downie concluded.

Tiffany’s connections are carefully plotting her route as she continues her upward trajectory, and her next start in Germany could be pivotal in defining the remainder of her campaign.
