Palace Soar into Carabao Cup Third Round with Victory over Norwich

Crystal Palace secured their first win of the season with a convincing 4-0 triumph over Norwich City at Selhurst Park, advancing to the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The match began with a bang as Daichi Kamada marked his first goal for Palace in just the second minute. Kamada latched onto a pass from Jean-Philippe Mateta, rounded Norwich goalkeeper George Long, and tapped the ball into the empty net.

Norwich almost equalized shortly after, with Gabriel Forsyth's effort striking the outside of the post. Palace’s Eberechi Eze had a goal disallowed, but the home side soon extended their lead. Mateta showcased his acrobatic skills with an overhead kick in the 56th minute, giving Palace a 2-0 advantage.

Mateta added a second goal with a powerful finish from an Eze delivery midway through the second half. Eze then capped off a fine individual performance with a goal following a dynamic solo run, making it 4-0.

Norwich had their moments, with Ante Crnac and Marcelino Nunez both testing Palace's defense in the first half. Despite their efforts, the Canaries were unable to capitalize. A standout double save by Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson denied Crnac and substitute Oscar Schwartau, preserving the clean sheet.

The match was not without injury concerns. Palace’s Chadi Riad injured his knee while blocking Forsyth’s shot, and Norwich's Amankwah Forson appeared to dislocate his shoulder during a challenge with Will Hughes.

Palace’s next fixture is an away trip to Chelsea on Sunday, with potential transfer activity expected before the weekend. The Eagles are reportedly close to signing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, while Newcastle is also interested in acquiring Palace’s Marc Guehi before the transfer window closes on Friday.
