Leicester Tigers Sign Fiji International Ben Volavola on One-Year Deal
Leicester Tigers have bolstered their squad with the signing of Fijian back Ben Volavola on a one-year contract. The 33-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the Tigers after spending seven seasons in France with four different clubs, most recently Agen.
Volavola, who has earned 38 caps for Fiji, has represented his country in two Rugby World Cups and accumulated 239 points over his international career. Versatile in his play, he is capable of operating as both a fly-half and a full-back.
The signing reunites Volavola with new Tigers head coach Michael Cheika, under whom he previously played at Super Rugby side New South Wales Waratahs. Cheika praised Volavola's extensive northern-hemisphere experience and his proven track record at the international level.
"Ben’s knowledge of northern-hemisphere rugby from his time in France is a plus, and his experience at international level is invaluable," Cheika said on the club's website. "I know he’s a man of good character and will add value to our environment."
Volavola’s addition is expected to bring further depth to the Tigers' backline as they prepare for the upcoming season.
