Birmingham Phoenix Triumph Over Trent Rockets in Thrilling Hundred Clash at Trent Bridge

Birmingham Phoenix secured a dramatic six-run victory over Trent Rockets in a tense encounter at Trent Bridge in the Hundred men's competition. All-rounder Dan Mousley emerged as the hero, taking two crucial wickets and conceding just three runs off the final 10 deliveries to help the Phoenix defend their total of 138-6.

Trent Rockets required 10 runs from the last 10 balls but were thwarted by the 23-year-old former England Under-19 player Mousley, who finished with exceptional figures of 3-9. In a dramatic finish, Tim Southee also claimed a late wicket, and Adam Milne executed a superb run-out of Sam Hain as the Rockets crumbled from 125-3 to 132-8.

Earlier, Birmingham Phoenix, having been put into bat, posted a slightly below-par total of 138-6. Ben Duckett, returning from Test duty with the England team, contributed 21 off 17 balls. Liam Livingstone added a quickfire 30 from 20 deliveries, while Jacob Bethell anchored the innings with an unbeaten 46.

In response, Trent Rockets seemed well-positioned to chase down the target with Alex Hales scoring 38 off 30 balls and Joe Root adding 33 off 19. However, the Phoenix bowlers staged a remarkable comeback, with Mousley's final spell proving decisive.

The victory at Trent Bridge boosts Birmingham Phoenix's standings in the competition, showcasing their resilience and the depth of their bowling attack. As the tournament progresses, the Phoenix will look to build on this momentum, while the Rockets will need to regroup and address their late-innings collapse.
