Crystal Palace Set to Sign Ismaila Sarr from Marseille

Crystal Palace are on the verge of signing winger Ismaila Sarr from Marseille for a fee in the region of £12.5 million. The 26-year-old Senegalese international is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Eagles at Selhurst Park.

Sarr joined Marseille from Watford in July last year for an undisclosed fee. During his time at Watford, he scored 34 goals in 131 appearances and, in the last season with Marseille, he registered five goals and six assists in all competitions.

With 13 goals in 64 caps for Senegal, Sarr boasts an impressive international career. He was part of the squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021 and has played in two World Cups.

Marseille, who recently appointed former Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi, have signed Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood and are looking to recoup funds, making Sarr's transfer to Palace feasible.

Crystal Palace have been searching for a replacement for Michael Olise since the Frenchman joined Bayern Munich. The club banked £50 million from Olise's departure and have been active in the transfer market this summer. Alongside the anticipated signing of Sarr, Palace have acquired Daichi Kamada, a 27-year-old Japanese midfielder, on a free transfer from Lazio, and Chadi Riad, a Moroccan international with three caps, for £14 million from Real Betis.

Sarr's arrival is expected to bolster Palace's attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming season. Fans will be keen to see how the new signings, including Sarr, will integrate into Roy Hodgson’s squad and contribute to the team's success.
