Emma Navarro was knocked out by Jasmine Paolini in the Wimbledon quarterfinals

US tennis star Emma Navarro's impressive Wimbledon run came to an end on Tuesday, as Italy’s Jasmine Paolini secured a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory in the quarterfinals.

Paolini, 28, who had never won a match at Wimbledon until 10 days ago, needed just 58 minutes to decisively defeat Navarro, making history as the first Italian woman to reach the semifinals at SW19 in the Open era.

Navarro managed to break Paolini in her second service game, gaining an early 2-1 lead after some tightly contested exchanges.

However, the 23-year-old American could not maintain her momentum. Paolini responded by winning five consecutive games to claim the first set.

The second set saw Paolini continue her dominant form. With the score tied at 1-1, she won the next five games, sealing her victory in style.

Navarro praised Paolini after the match, noting that the Italian played like "a totally different player" compared to their previous encounters.

Jannik Sinner left the court for a medical assessment when he was down a break in the third set
