Andy Murray Announces Retirement After 2024 Paris Olympics

Andy Murray, one of Britain’s most celebrated tennis players, has confirmed his retirement from the sport following the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 37-year-old plans to compete in both the singles and doubles events at what will mark his fifth and final Olympic Games.

"Arrived in Paris for my last ever tennis tournament," Murray announced on social media platform X. "Competing for Team GB has been by far the most memorable weeks of my career and I'm extremely proud to get to do it one final time!"

Murray’s Olympic journey began in Beijing in 2008, where he faced a disappointing first-round exit against Lu Yen-hsun. However, he rebounded spectacularly four years later at the London 2012 Games. Fresh off a Wimbledon final loss to Roger Federer, Murray defeated the Swiss champion in straight sets to claim his first Olympic gold medal.
