Kusal Janith smashes his first 100 in LPL 2024

Kusal Janith Perera smashed the first century of the Lanka Premier League 2024.

Despite his reputation as a clean striker of the ball, he was left out of the recent T20 World Cup squad and was not initially picked for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) either. However, he was later selected by the Dambulla Sixers.

Opening the innings, KJP remained unbeaten on 102 off just 52 deliveries, smashing 10 fours and five sixes helping Dambulla reach 191 for 2 in 20 overs.

His century marked a significant milestone as it was his first in T20 cricket. Perera reached his fifty in 31 deliveries and then accelerated, scoring the next fifty in just 19 balls.

After losing Danushka Gunathilaka early in the innings, Perera built crucial partnerships. He added 108 runs for the second wicket with Nuwanidu Fernando (40) and an unbeaten 65 runs for the third wicket with Mark Chapman (33 not out).

Dambulla finished with a formidable total of 191 for 2 in their allotted 20 overs.
