Flintoff's son Rocky hits century for England U19s

Rocky Flintoff, the teenage son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, showcased his talent with a century for England Under-19s on the third day of the second Test against Sri Lanka. Starting the day on 82, the 16-year-old reached his milestone in the first hour of the morning session, achieving his century in 176 balls, decorated with eight fours and two sixes. Shortly after, Flintoff was dismissed for 106, leaving England at 454-7 with a commanding first-innings lead of 301.

This remarkable innings makes Flintoff the youngest player to score a century for England Under-19s. His impressive summer continues to flourish as he recently signed his first professional contract with Lancashire, having already made a century for the club's second XI.

Flintoff made his debut for England Under-19s during the ongoing tour of Sri Lanka, joining a team that includes notable names such as Archie Vaughan, son of former England captain Michael Vaughan, and Farhan Ahmed and Jaydn Denly, brother and nephew of internationals Rehan Ahmed and Joe Denly, respectively.

Andrew Flintoff, Rocky's father, had a distinguished career, representing England in 79 Tests, 141 one-day internationals, and seven T20s between 1999 and 2009. He played a pivotal role in England's historic Ashes victory in 2005 and later captained the team from 2006 to 2007. After retiring from cricket, Andrew transitioned to television, becoming a presenter on Top Gear in 2019 alongside Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris. Unfortunately, he sustained injuries in a filming accident for the BBC show in December 2022.

Andrew Flintoff continued his involvement in cricket by joining the England men's limited-overs coaching setup last summer and was appointed head coach of the Northern Superchargers men's team in The Hundred in November 2023.
