Capsey guides England to T20 series win over New Zealand
Sophie Ecclestone's brilliant 4-25 was pivotal in limiting New Zealand to 141-8. Lauren Filer (2-17) and Sarah Glenn (1-14) also delivered impressive bowling performances.
New Zealand’s innings was anchored by captain Sophie Devine, who finished strong with an unbeaten 58 off 42 balls. Suzie Bates contributed 38 at the top of the order.
England faced an early setback when Maia Bouchier was dismissed for a first-ball duck. However, Alice Capsey and Sophia Dunkley (35) stabilized the innings with a 66-run partnership for the second wicket.
Nat Sciver-Brunt, leading the team in Heather Knight's absence, was dismissed without scoring. Yet, 19-year-old Capsey showed remarkable composure, guiding England towards victory.
With 28 runs needed from 17 balls, Capsey launched Amelia Kerr for a towering six, igniting England's final push. Freya Kemp then smashed 16 off eight balls before Capsey sealed the win with a fortunate shot and a misfield, leaving four balls to spare.
The fourth game is set to take place at Kia Oval on Saturday at 18:30 BST.
